What can I say, I’m a follower. I heard about this Thirty Days of Blank doo-hickey and I signed right up. I’ve decided to do thirty days of pictures. So starting August 1st I’ll be taking (and posting) at least one picture a day. Except those days we’ll be camping… I’ll still take the pictures, but those won’t be posted until we get back home. Which means that even though this bad boy starts on Saturday – you won’t get a picture until Sunday or Monday. It’s ok though, you’ll love it anyway! Don’t cry.
This will count for my goal to “Find another new-to-me writing or photo blog challenge that sounds interesting – and complete it!” It’s almost like this was meant to be. *acts all dramatic-like and pretends to feel faint*
Besides this I’m also thinking of trying another “Assignment”… something back to school related. Even though I’m not in school, and I don’t have children to send off to school… I’m kind of a dork about office supplies in some ways, which makes this whole back to school time of year pretty awesome. Anyway, be warned! I’ll think up some parameters for the assignment, decide on a due date, and get back to you.
Well… July has been a kind of busy month! I just wrote all about this over on my goals blog, but it needs to be said here too! We just bought a new to us car this week. It’s pretty exciting! Well, the payment isn’t so much with the exciting, but the car itself is pretty awesome! It’s a 2005 Hyundai Elantra – which is a 12 year update from my 1993 Pontiac Bonneville. It’s silver and shiny and the air conditioning totally WORKS. And that blows my mind every day that I leave work and climb into it after it’s been sitting in the hot sun all day. All I have to do is turn that knob and count to three and it’s like a whole new world. *faints from the pure awesomeness*

We don’t really have a lot more than that going on right now. Car things have consumed our lives for the last couple weeks. Next weekend though we are going on our annual camping trip with my parents in which we tube down the “river” with a ton of people they know. I didn’t get sunburned last year (thanks in part to sunscreen, but mostly thanks to the fact that is was pretty chilly and not particularly sunny that day), and I will not again this year! Right? RIGHT!
Last night we reserved our spot where we’ll be camping when we go to Taughannock Falls, in about 3 weeks. Fun! We still don’t know if our friends will be joining us, but we booked the spot anyway. If they can come – great! If they can only stop by to visit – that’s good too! And if they can’t? Well, that sucks, but we’ll have fun either way.
And on September 3rd we will be going to the Great New York State Fair! (Yes, you have to say “the Great”… see here? It’s law.) We have tickets to Crufest 2 that night in the grandstand. How exciting! Plus, I just saw today that Lee Greenwood (Mr. Proud To Be An American himself) will be the performer at the Chevrolet Court (aka free concert) that day – which is Veteran’s Day. I should probably try to remember to wear my flag shirt that day, otherwise I won’t fit in at the fair.
You guys should know that the Great NY State Fair is awesome, and not lame like I hear some other state fair’s can be. I usually end up grumpy since I don’t deal real well with crowds and it is always PACKED (it’s also always hot, which is is also not my favorite thing). But I think I’ll be fine this year, we won’t head up early in the day but will probably wait for about lunchtime, catch Lee Greenwood at 2:00 at least for a bit, check out the animals, the butter sculpture, the native american village (I love that part), play a couple games (but NOT get swindled this time! Those game people are tricky! lol), and maybe ride a ride or two before it’s time for our concert. Should be a good time!
I mentioned in a post over here about a possible camping trip with friends of ours this summer… and it sounds like they are in! We just have to figure out when we want to go, and get everyone all approved with their time off from work! And I guess they want to find a sitter, which is obviously their call to make but I want to go on record stating that that wasn’t my intention at all! We like their kids. (Maybe I should say “their kid” since we’ve only met the youngest one twice in her long 9 months so far? I’m sure we like her too though!) I can understand that camping with little ones probably sounds less like fun and more like work to those with the little ones though. I don’t have to worry about all that.
Jeff and I are going to go anyway I think, even if it turns out they aren’t able to. We bought a few supplies this weekend on a big trip to Big Lots! The reason we went is because they advertised a queen size air mattress for $20. But of course they didn’t have any of that one in stock. We ended up getting another one that was $40 instead. It was still a pretty good deal I think. Along with our air mattress we grabbed a battery powered lantern, a clip on mini fan, and some tarps. You can blame the tarps on Jeff, but I’m sure they’ll come in handy at some point. We need to (and by “we” I mean “Jeff”) voyage down to the basement sometime soon and unearth our tent. I think it’s very likely beyond saving, but Jeff doesn’t think so. We’ve never used the tent, and it’s never even been taken out of it’s zipper case thing – but it has been buried in our basement (which gets very wet) (and is infested with spiders) since we’ve lived where we live – so for about five full years. My guess is we may need to scrap it and go tent shopping. Jeff thinks it will just need to be aired out, and probably hosed off. We will see! But you can bet I’m not going near that thing until I am CONVINCED it’s not icky.
The place we’re going to go (Taughannock Falls) would allow Dale to come as long as we provide proof that he’s had his rabies shots (which he is due for)… but I think you can’t leave them unattended for any length of time which would mean we wouldn’t be able to go to the beach area or stroll out to the falls and leave him behind. So probably we will find a dog sitter. Poor Dale. If we had a camper of some sort we could bring him and just put him inside when we go off wherever. But, we don’t have one. We do have a kennel though… would it be weird to kennel a dog inside a tent? lol. He’ll probably just stay at Jeff’s dads, which he will love just as much. He loves visiting his mommy dog, Sam.
Seriously. This is the coolest. Click here! I hope these start popping up over here. If I had any kind of talent or skill I would so be itching to build one of my own!
PS Happy Fourth of July!
Lately I’ve been on the lookout for some new reads. Got any suggestions? Leave me a comment with your favorites – and feel free to plug your own site too! I think I’ll compile a list to share – as long as I get at least a couple suggestions. All types are welcome! Well… except maybe porn blogs. Is there such a thing as a porn blog?! I hope not, but sadly I bet there is. Yuck. Don’t link me to those, k? Anything else though is probably ok. (I’ll let you know if I change my mind on that.)
Woo! Blogs!
For some of my favorites, please direct your attention to your left.
Umm… your other left.
So here’s something I haven’t done in a while – written a real post! June came and went really fast, did you notice that?! Here’s how it all went down…
June started with Chewy being cute. Here he is glomping our router:

(You do know what a glomp is, right? Just in case,
it’s defined as lovingly attacking someone with a hug. Awww.)
Then. Jeffy had a birthday! There were presents.
The fun one being Guitar Hero – Legends of Rock:

Of which Dale approved:

Dale and Chewy were sentenced to a shared imprisonment:

There was also a birthday fire:

The True Nature of Dale & Chewy’s Relationship was revealed:

My friend Kelly got MARRIED, and I was a bridesmaid. Sadly I also forgot to bring our camera along for the weekend of festivities, so uhh… here’s a crappy cellphone picture of wedding hair:

Basically, June was exhausting.
