After a good week with almost no backaches, my back is super achey again today. I really don’t know what’s making it hurt, but I wish it would stop. So most of today I have spent on the couch with a heating pad, and the Lifetime Movie Network. Which is weird, because I don’t normally watch that channel much.
Yesterday morning my step-dad came over to show us how to change the filter and nozzle on the furnace, and to help us figure out which ones we needed to get (and by us I mean Jeff). While they were down in the basement they realized that the exhaust pipes that go from the furnace to the chimney fell down (or something else that equals it wasn’t hooked up right). They found this out when he was done changing things and turned the furnace back on; it started going and apparently the basement filled with smoke. So not cool. So the easy job of changing the filter and nozzle took about an hour and a half because we had to scrounge for more pipe pieces. I found ‘em! I won. Don’t tell our landlord. Though, really it would have been his job to fix it AND he’ll never notice they are missing… but anyway I have never once gone into the garage here (because it’s not “for us”, he stores crap in there) – until yesterday. I snuck in to see if there was any pipeage, went up the stairs (the garage is huge) and found the pipe motherload. So it’s all fixed now. And I’m thinking the pipeage breakage thing must have happened just recently? Because the furnace has kicked on a couple times in the last week, and neither of us ever smelled smoke, and none of our detectors went off (we have a smoke and a carbon monoxide one right next to the door to the basement). So that was pretty much the excitement of the weekend. Then I went to the bookstore and spent entirely too much money.
